Bill error

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user May 25, 2026

Horrible. I paid everything I owe before I left my appointments.

Week after my appointment I get a bill in the mail saying that I owe $54.00 when I have the receipt that I paid for it. I tried to get it taken care of by calling the number and nobody answers all three times. Not to mention, I had to come back for another appointment because the doctor left 15 to 20 minutes early for break. So all together I paid $132.00 in tuberculosis test all together.

Extremely unhappy with my experience. I will not be paying another $54.00 to Minute Clinic.

You can never reach anyone during hours. This automated voice is zero help.

They send people to this automated voice just so they don't have to answer and do the jobs that they are paid to do. Must be nice.

Call Minute Clinic and automatized doesn't recognize voice responses or keypad so you can't even advance in the call system. Improve your system!! I can't even return a provider voicemail to call back.

$1000 surprise bill

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Insurer in-network for TB test and vaccines.
  • Three months later billed $1,000.
  • Appeals filed with insurer and CMS.
  • Out-of-pocket $318; bill sent to collections.

I went to CVS Minute Clinic for a TB test and was told my insurance would pay for care. I scheduled two vaccines and again verified that my insurance was in network for the service.

Three months later, I received a bill for $1,000. I have appealed through my insurance twice and through the CMS resolution process. CVS Minute Clinic charges $318 out of pocket for these services.

They will do absolutely nothing to assist me and have sent the bill to collections. Evidently, lying to consumers nets them an additional $682 above the out-of-pocket costs.

Pros:
  • No pros
Cons:
  • Will lie about costs then demand a exorbitant payment

Preferred solution: Price reduction

User's recommendation: Do not go to Minute Clinic for medical care. They will lie about the cost.

  • Billing issues persisted for months.
  • I was charged a $15 copay I should not have paid, later got a $15 refund and am in collections.

I have been trying to get my bill straightened out for nearly 6 months. Some of that is my fault because I become impatient with the wait time on hold with them when I call.

When I went for my visit, I paid a $15 copay that I shouldn't have paid. My secondary insurance picks up anything my primary doesn't cover. I paid it and kept it moving. Then I received a bill for the entire amount less $15.

I called, spoke to someone, and my insurance was a complete mess. I gave them my correct information, then received another bill for a smaller amount. I called again, corrected my insurance again, while speaking to someone that sounded like it might’ve been their first day and couldn't figure out what my insurance was. She kept telling me I had an HMO.

It clearly says PPO on my card. She also insisted it was out of a different state than it is. Surprise! The billing is still incorrect.

I then received a refund check for $15 for the $15 I paid at the time of the visit that I shouldn't have. I assumed that meant everything was somehow straightened out. Nope!

I'm now in collections for $15!!! Jesus, take the wheel.

Preferred solution: My billing corrected.

User's recommendation: Don’t. Unless you’re paying cash or only have one insurance to file. Two seems to really mess places up.

go to a competitor

Original review Sep 27, 2025
I scheduled vaccines for my family for today (well in advance), we received multiple confirmations and reminders, and when we arrived, MinuteClinic was closed. Multiple other customers with confirmed reservations were waiting as well.
CVS store mgmt was embarrassed but gave us all a blurb about MinuteClinic being their contractor, that they have no one to staff their clinic, that this has happened several times before, and that they are sorry.
Customers were upset because:
1/ Minute Clinic requires email addresses and cell #s for reservations and still failed to contact customers in advance to cancel their reservations since they had no clinicians to perform the services
2/ Neither CVS Pharnacist at this location nor store mgmt stepped up to resolve this vendor failure when the pharmacy actually had bandwidth to perform vaccines for the upset customers.

Some customers figured this out on their own, some tried to call the MinuteClinic 800# to find out what was going on, and some just left the store dissatisfied.
CVS and MinuteClinic - if this is your business model, you really need to get your act together relative to resolving staffing issues (pay what is required to attract and retain qualified clinicians), utilize your technology to communicate properly with customers when you have service failures, train Pharmacists and Store Managers for service recovery in these instances to protect your revenue stream and customer relationships.
What was beyond ridiculous was that 2 hours after my appointment, MinuteClinic sent me a text about me missing my vaccine appointment. Boy, what an epic failure!
Pros:
  • Location
Cons:
  • Poor service delivery

Preferred solution: Apology

User's recommendation: Do not make appointments with MinuteClinic at CVS stores.

1- maybe you should have AUTHORIZED TEXT MESSAGES when scheduling your appointment so that you would have been notified of the cancellation. No, MinuteClinic does not have the personnel available to call each and every person when they are forced to close for whatever reason.

Everything is automated. Just like every other business. 2- how exactly did you expect the store manager or pharmacy team — who are in no way associated with MinuteClinic l— to “rectify” your perceived inconvenience?

Pull a medical provider out of their butt just to satisfy your entitlement and give you and your spawn your flu shots? Maybe you should have shut your yapping wordhole and proceeded to the pharmacy counter where you and your little trolls could have had your flu shots administered by the pharmacist instead….

Guest

To the pissy “guest” hiding behind their keyboard hi clearly has an anger management problem and didn’t read the initial complaint at all. Texts were authorized and every text said the appointment was on.

No “trolls” in attendance except that sounds like an appropriate name for you and your family members. I understand the healthcare shortage but this does not excuse a company from advertising services they clearly can’t perform. Obviously, I did go to the pharmacy to have the vaccines after Minute Clinic failed to perform. What a moronic assumption!

But I should not have to wait in a huge line when I had the foresight to make an appointment, and believe in honoring my appointments with others following the appointment.

Your motivation behind your email is clearly suspect, and your time wasted. Oh that’s right, you don’t value time.

Horrendous Customer Service

  • Very long holds and slow access to my claim details.
  • Six weeks of follow-up for a <$500 claim; insurer denies providing the requested info.

I have had no less than 4 separate INTERNATIONAL calls with minute clinic reps to try to resolve my travel insurance medical claim and their customer service is horrendous.

First off you are on hold for VERY long times and when you eventually do get through it takes them forever to pull up your details, and they can never find the information they need. my insurance provider is constantly saying that they never said the info that is asked of them!

I have literally been following up for close to 6 weeks for a single claim that is less than $500 !!!

I'm about to lose my mind...

I have been stuck in a loop of misinformation and inaction. Awful...

After hours and 4 calls, I was able to get a 20% reduction but this is still an extra $190 over the walk-in price without insurance. They actually penalize you for having insurance and favor people who do not.

Original review Jun 05, 2025
My son went in for a rapid strep test. The online pricing and info available said $99-$139 without insurance.

My son was out of state in school and for that reason, the insurance did not cover anything. After wasting hours trying to get CVS to just allow me to pay the walk-in rate, I lost. Once they see you have insurance, the bill is three times higher. The bill is $410.90.

They will not rebill once you are classified as having insurance! This is an absolutely unethical billing practice!

There is no such thing as a “walk in price” … what are you talking about? Further, why isn’t your son (an adult) handling his own issues?

Paul Edwards P
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2707601

Actually, there is a significant difference in the fee if its billed to insurance verses walking in without insurance or just not presenting your insurance card when prompted. This policy was confirmed by both CVS customer service and also the billing department with whom I negotiated with.

The online fee examples posted on the CVS minute clinic website also list costs that are nothing near what I was charged. I see no reason to question parenting? My son is a college student with very limited income, and it is my insurance coverage for him.

You should get your facts straight. I spent hours on the phone trying to resolve this fairly and I have not posted anything that I did not experience.

$90 "new patient extended visit fee"

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • MinuteClinic is not urgent care; use real urgent care.
  • They were charged $172 for flu test and vaccine; $90 new patient visit fee not disclosed.

CVS MinuteClinic IS NOT URGENT CARE. Go to urgent care every time, not MinuteClinic.

I have a $50 urgent care copay, but got charged $172 for a flu test and vaccine at CVS MinuteClinic. $90 of that was for "new patient extended visit fee" which is not listed anywhere in their pricing list online, and they did not mention it when checking me out. I arrived at 8:40 and got out at 9:17am, including the time it took for me to fill out paperwork. "New patient extended visit fee" apparently applies at any point past the 15 minute mark, but they don't let anyone know that ahead of time.

They did not provide me with a receipt until I went in for the third time and asked for an itemized one. The RN and "receptionist" tried to hide from me and brush me off when I asked for details about how they'd "checked the insurance". They said they "checked the insurance", but there's no claim filed. The receipt says they billed the insurance "$339" and got an "insurance discount" that brought that extended visit fee to $90.

Flu shots are covered completely by my insurance as well, yet supposedly MinuteClinic billed "$112" to the insurance, and the discount brought it to $80. Having worked in insurance benefits, this is BS.

No claim has been sent to my insurance, they are just crooks. Do not go to a Minute Clinic, go to a real urgent care clinic.

Loss:

Cons:

  • Crooks

Is Minute Clinic an urgent care?

Guest

You were out of network. It’s your responsibility to know this.

Guest

One question. Is Minute Clinic considered an Urgent Care? (Ducking)

Guest

Minute Clinic is not considered urgent care, so forget thinking you could walk in for a $50 copay. Your insurance was contacted, they just did not pay anything.

However, by having insurance, the insurance lowered your charge to their agreed upon charge for the two services. The $339 visit fee was reduced to $90. The $112 vaccine charge was reduced to $80.

If someone with no insurance walked in (and did not have insurance pricing), their cost would be $451. It sounds like Minute Clinic is out-of -network.

Guest

Yes you did. However you calculated your “loss” by subtracting that $50 urgent care copay from the $172 bill.

If you are so smart, and stated it’s not urgent care numerous times, why are you using urgent care parameters to determine your loss? Ahahahahaha

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2654329

Too bad you didn’t realize they were not urgent care before accepting services which you are now legally obligated to pay for. Most responsible consumers verify such details BEFORE accepting a service so they don’t look like a fool later when the realization finally sinks in.

Poor bedside manner of NP at cvs minute clinic

Woods. Her attitude right away, was snotty. She asked if id been tested for Covid, I said no. She rolled her eyes.

She asked if id had a flu shot, I said no. She said well, your cough will last 12-15 weeks because of that. She asked if i

was still vaping, I said occasionally, not much. She gave me 10 minute lecture about what it does to my body.

Im a 64 year old woman. I think Im educated enough to know the risks! She said when I came in and set down ( after putting the oxygen sat on my finger) she said oh! I cant treat you if your oxygen is not above 95!

I was currently at 94 and rose to 97 after she let me settle down! Everything she said and did, had a very superior tone!

Sir, you have even less education than a junior high student. Why don’t you go take a flu shot or something?

You sound a bit cranky. Do you need a cigarette?

Guest

Seriously??? Bedside manner??

If you were seeking coddling and sympathy and hand holding, go see your psychiatrist. Minute clinic’s job is to treat your illness, which they did.

Guest

NPs (nurse practitioners) are not doctors. They will never correct you though if you call them doctor.

They are only nurses with slightly more education that can write prescriptions under a doctor's medical license.

At your age, you should have had a flu shot. Sounds like she was frustrated with you but that should not make her take on a superior tone.
